Women's Fishing FUNdamentals

Max 4 participants, must be 18+ to participate
Face Coverings Mandatory

This is for novices and those wanting to gain some extra confidence. You don’t need to be an expert or know everything to go out and have fun. You just need to learn enough to get out there!

Location: LAKE WINNIPEG, Balsam Bay Marina

  • Using your own transportation, you may drive onto the ice (4x4 or AWD + snow tires recommended) Ice driving safety protocols will be shared prior to embarking onto the lake. There is ample parking if you prefer the 10 minute/350m walk to the shack.

  • The lovely heated shack includes everything for your day of ice fishing. Two additional stations will be set up to ensure social distancing and safety protocols are followed (a heated tent and a campfire outdoors). Participants will rotate through the stations throughout the day.

  • Lessons will include:

    • Operating an auger

    • Selecting tackle, knots, baiting the hook, rod and line choice and more.

    • Fish Identification and fish handling

    • Electronics, bottom structure and basic fish location techniques

  • Snacks, warm beverages and a HOT LUNCH are provided.

NOTE: On this day, all fish are catch and release except for Walleye. Fish will be filleted for the participants. Participants can keep fish up to their legal limit (dependent on their license – full/conservation).
