My name is Roselle Turenne, and I am a 5th generation proud Manitoban. I am a post-secondary Instructor and consultant with over 30 years of professional tourism experience. I love to teach and help others achieve their goals.

I love to fish but, I AM NOT AN EXPERT and that’s kind of the point. You don’t need to know everything, you just need to know enough to be safe and have fun. Not all of us have fishing mentors. Not all of us know a “guy” or a “gal” that can take us fishing that first time. I didn’t. That’s why I created PrairieGal Fishing. To get you out there, teach you the basics, and empower you to go it alone.

In 2019, I was a finalist for the Governor General’s Gold Medal Award across all disciplines for my graduate research titled “Women Fish Too: Increasing the competitiveness of a Northwestern Ontario tourist destination”. It was during my research that I truly learned about the importance of women in angling and how little it had to do with catching fish. It is about nature, relaxation, bonding, learning skills, and so much more. Of course, catching fish is an added bonus!

I took up fishing as a young adult, working at fishing lodges to pay for University. After a long hiatus, I began angling again and it has become my passion. I am fortunate to fish most days throughout the summer and I took up ice fishing in 2018. On an average year, I get in well over 100 fishing days and mostly target Walleye, bass and northern pike. I am an active member of two fishing clubs (Wisconsin Women Fish and Ontario Women Anglers).
